Wibbly Wobbly Bouncy Egg

Project Idea /Question
How can you turn an egg to a bouncy ball?
 Hypothesis
If we placed an egg in vinegar, then it’s shell will
dissolve and the egg will become bouncy.
Abstract
The chemical reaction between the acetic acid in vinegar
and the calcium carbonate in egg shell will result in a
rubbery egg.
Materials Needed
One egg
Empty cup
Vinegar
Procedure
1. Put the egg carefully in the cup.
2. Fill the cup with vinegar until the egg is covered.
3. Wait for 24 hours.
4. Pour the vinegar carefully.
5. Dry the egg.
6. Put the egg over a flashlight and see how does it
glow.
7. Have fun playing with the bouncy egg!
Observation and Data Collection
• The egg shell is dissolved but the egg is still raw inside.
• The egg is bouncy.
• The egg glows over light like a lamp.
Results and Conclusion
• The chemical reaction between the carbonated calcium in the egg shell and the
acetic acid in vinegar made the shell lose its hardness and become squishy.
• The egg glow over light and shines
