INDIAN NATIONAL CONGRESS

 Indian National Congress(INC) is popularly known as the Congress

Party. It is one of the oldest parties of the world.
 It was founded in 1885.
 Under the leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru, the party sought to build
a modern secular democratic republic in India.
 Indian National Congress ruled India from independence till 1977
and then from 1980 to 1989 then from 1991 to 1996 and from 2004
to 2014.
 Now it’s support has declined but it continues to be present
throughout the country.
 Currently it is the principal opposition party in Lok Sabha.
