Literary techniques and themes vary from the writers own style
and creativity.

What is the importance of themes and techniques in a literary works?


Literary techniques

- are specific, deliberate constructions of language which


an author uses to convey meaning.

- there are phrases that writers use to employ artistic


literary piece, that can also help readers to a greater
understanding and appreciation of the literary work.
Examples of Literary techniques
o Imagery
use of figurative language to create visual representations of actions,
objects and ideas in our mind in such a way that they appeal to our physical
senses.
o Simili and Metaphor
Both compare two distinct objects and draws similarity between
them.
o Hyperbole
It is deliberate exaggeration of actions and ideas for the sake of
emphasis.
o Personification

- It gives a thing, an idea or an animal human qualities

o Alliteration

- It refers to the same consonant sounds in words coming


together.

o Allegory

- It is a literary technique in which an abstract idea is given a form


of characters, actions or events.
Literary Themes

- themes are ideas that not only apply to the specific characters
and events of a book or play, but also express broader truths about
human experience that readers can apply to their own lives.

 Good vs. evil
- The classic battle between light
and dark, altruism and antagonism,
the theme of good versus evil stretches
beyond even Biblical times
