IDEOLOGY
was conceived in 1796 by French
Philosopher Destutt de Tracy
Refer to a new science that
endeavored to uncover origins of
conscious thoughts and ideas.
He called this “science of ideas”
ideologie.
Ideology could mean different
things to different people.
Sociologist Peter Braham says that
ideology is also “widely used.. To
describe a cluster of beliefs not only
judged false or distorted, but also as
deliberately concealing some
hidden interest.”
Ideology is a set of related ideas or
systematic group of concepts and
beliefs about culture, society and
human life.
Dictates how society should be
structured.
Ideology mean an officially
sanctioned set of ideas used to
legitimized a political system or
regime” and “an all-embracing
political doctrine that claims a
monopoly of truth”
It pertains to conduct of government.
More or less coherent set of ideas that
provides a basis for organized political
actions, whether the ideas are intended
to preserve, modify or overthrow the
existing power structure.
