Introduction:-

French revolution started in 1789. The series of event started by the middle
class shaken by upper class. The people revolted against the cruel regime of
monarchy. This revolution put forward the idea of liberty., fraternity, and
equality.
On the morning of 14th July 1789,the city of Paris was in a state of alarm The
king had commanded troop to move into a city. Rumours spread

The revolution began on 14th July, 1789 with the storming of the fortress-prison
the Bastille.
:-The Bastille, the fortress-prison was hated by all, because it stood for the
despotic power of the king.
:-The fortress was demolished.

French society during the late eighteenth century:-

In 1774, Louis XVI of the Bourbon family of kings ascended the throne of
France. He 20 year old and married to a Austrian princess Marie Antoinette.
Upon his accession the new king found an empty treasury.
Reasons for empty treasury:-

(1) . Long year of war had drained the financial resource of France.
(2). Added to this was the cost of maintaining an extra extravagant court
at the immense palace of Varsailles.
