William Shakespeare

Brief biography
Shakespeare was born and raised in Stratford-upon-
Avon, Warwickshire. At the age of 18, he married
Anne Hathaway, with whom he had three children:
Susanna and twins Hamnet and Judith. Sometime
between 1585 and 1592, he began a successful career
in London as an actor, writer, and part-owner of a
playing company called the Lord Chamberlain's Men,
later known as the King's Men. At age 49 (around
1613), he appears to have retired to Stratford, where
he died three years later.
Interesting facts from the life
of Shakespeare.

William Shakespeare is deservedly considered the

greatest writer of the English language and the most
successful playwright in the world – the works of no
other writer can compare with his plays in terms of
the frequency of performances in theaters around the
globe.
Did he really exist?

Very little information has been preserved about

Shakespeare's life, so the view that another person or even
a group of people wrote the works attributed to him is still
quite popular. Skeptics note that Shakespeare was an
uneducated native of the outback, but his works are
distinguished by a rich vocabulary, excellent knowledge of
history and literature.

with a spear". The Shakespeare family coat of
arms featured a yellow and black shield with a
tournament spear and a knight's helmet. Below
it, in French, was the motto: "Not without
right."
During the production of Hamlet,
Shakespeare played the shadow of
the murdered father of a Danish
prince.
