Home care", "home health care", "in-
home care" are phrases that are
used interchangeably in English
(mainly in the U.S.A.) to mean any
type of care given to a person in
their own home. Both phrases have
been used in the past
interchangeably regardless of
whether the person requires skilled
care or not. More recently, there is a
growing movement to distinguish
between "home health care" meaning
skilled nursing care and "home care"
meaning non-medical care.
Home Care is a nonmedical
service.
- bathing, driving, laundry,
meal preparation and more.
- home care professionals are
generally not able to
administer medications or
change dressings.
- home care services are paid
for
privately
Home
- provides medical care in the home setting.
health
These services can range from in-home
nursing to therapy.
- Caregivers in home health can administer
intravenous medications, treat wounds,
help manage diabetes through glucose
monitoring and insulin administration,
assist
with Alzheimer’s and dementia related
illnesses, provide occupational therapy, and
much more.
