What costs do you think this accident

would’ve cost Bartons?

How much do you think this sort of

accident costs a company overall?
Here are just some of the types of costs that Bartons incurred:

•Loss of production

•Repair work (machinery)

•Overtime for other workers to cover lost production

•Wages for (temporary) replacement worker

•Loss of time for manager/MD (investigation and helping HSE with enquiries)

•Lawyer expenses (those lawyers hey)

•Fines and court costs

•Increase in insurance premiums

This little episode cost the company about £60,000 overall.  Not only that, the
MD himself was prosecuted and two of Josh's mates were made redundant -
to stop the company from going out of business.  Only about £5,000 of this
was covered in insurance.  The company had to find the rest itself.
