CC BY-NC-ND What do we mean there is almost no hand movement in Taiji ? When we say no hand movement, we mean hands don’t take the lead to move by themselves but instead they are passively moved in response to the body movements. In other words, hands are subordinate to the body movements and hands don’t move by themselves individually. They move together with body in unison. The importance of Lady’s Hand
Why you need to maintain your lady’s hand in your
Taiji?
1. Taiji is a form of Qigong exercise or an internal
exercise. When you keep your hands likening a posture of lady’s hand, you allow your Qi to flow smoothly or uninterruptedly from your Dantian to your hands and fingers. 2. How relaxed your Taiji exercise can be achieved is normally judged by how good you can maintain your lady’s hand consistently throughout the performance of your Taiji or even in your basic exercises. In other words, Lady’s Hand is the yardstick of judging how relaxed you may have achieved in your Taiji exercise.
