Types of Banks
Commercial banks
Banks that accept money in the form of deposits from the public
and give loans and advances to its customers by charging
interest. Examples are Axis Bank, SBI etc.

Cooperative Banks
Banks are controlled, owned, managed and operated by
cooperative societies and came into existence under the
Cooperative Societies Act in 1912.

Types of banks
Investment Banks
Financial institutions that provide financial and advisory
assistance to their customers. Example- Bank of America, Citi
Bank etc.

Specialized Banks
These provide unique services to their customers. Some such
banks include, foreign exchange banks, development banks,
industrial banks, export import banks etc.

Central Bank
This bank makes various monetary policies, decides the rates
of interest, controlling the other banks in the country etc.
Reserve Bank of India is the central bank of India.

Agriculture bank
Agricultural Banks are the banks which provide agricultural
credit to the farmers. The Agricultural Development Banks
provide medium term and long-term credit.

Savings Bank
Savings Banks mainly concentrates on the mobilization of
savings of the people.

Foreign Exchange Banks


Foreign Exchange Banks are the banks which provide finance for
foreign trade
