The Father of Rizal: Francisco Mercado

 Descendant of Domingo Lam-co and
Inez de la Rosa, from Fujian, China
and who arrived in the Philippines
during the late 18th century

“Mercado” in compliance with the
decree of Gov. Gen. Narciso
Claveria requiring natives to adopt
new surnames for taxation
purposes.

the name Realonda

husband to the town of
Calamba south of Biñan
