 This story occurs when David chose to stay at home while

daughter of Eliam and the wife to Uriah.
 Despite David knowing that she was married he sent for
her and slept with her. Bathsheba later sent a word to
David that she was pregnant. David called Uriah to come
home so that he could spend a night with his wife and
cover up the sin.
 Uriah refused and this angered David, his plan did not
work hence he plotted to kill him.
 When Uriah went back to war David sent a note to
the Army’s commander with instructions to have
Uriah put at the frontline and to withdraw so that he
would die. Bathsheba became his wife.

God’s disapproval.

and insights for us today

should therefore flee temptation, 2Timothy2:22.
 when David walks around on his roof top and

notices a woman bathing. He sends for her and

goes ahead to sleep with her knowing well she
was the wife of Uriah. 2 Samuel 11:2-4.
 One sin leads to another-David commits a series

of sins which started with coveting Uriah’s wife

which leads to adultery and murder.
 God is forever gracious;
 God’s righteousness brings David to his sin. 2

of Israel and would grant him peace and rest during his
reign. God further promises him a kingdom over Israel

Lesson learnt from king David
 David was quick to repent-Paul says that David
was a man whose heart was inclined towards God
(Acts 15:22) and a man after God’s own heart.
 We learn that honest self-examination is
necessary to recognize our own sin, and then we
must repent of it.
 God greatly desire our complete trust and worship
 David demonstrated great patience towards King
Saul. King Saul could not bear to see David praised
for his achievements (He was jealous)
 David did not hold grudges- When King Saul
and son are killed in a battle, David tore his
clothes wept, mourned and fasted until
evening. David respected Saul as an anointed
King.
 Beware of idleness. David chooses to stay

home where as the rest of the army were in a

battle field and that’s when he spotted
Bathsheba that led to adultery and murder.
