Introduction
David was born in Bethlehem, he was the youngest of Jesse’s eight
sons.
David was young shepherd (1 Sam 16-19) and he gained fame as a
great musician and by killing Goliath.
David was anointed as the second King of Israel by Samuel ; during
his reign he conquers Jerusalem and brings back the Ark of covenant
back to Judah.
His wives to include Michal, Abigal, Maacha and Bathsheba.
He had several sons - Ammon, Absalom, Solomon and a daughter
Tamar
He composed many Psalms.Before his peaceful death he choose his
son Solomon as his successor. He was buried in Jerusalem Israel
Judah.
David and Bathsheba
This story occurs when David chose to stay at home while
he sent the rest of the Israelites army to fight. He was at
the rooftop of his palace, where he noticed Bathsheba,
daughter of Eliam and the wife to Uriah.
Despite David knowing that she was married he sent for
her and slept with her. Bathsheba later sent a word to
David that she was pregnant. David called Uriah to come
home so that he could spend a night with his wife and
cover up the sin.
Uriah refused and this angered David, his plan did not
work hence he plotted to kill him.
When Uriah went back to war David sent a note to
the Army’s commander with instructions to have
Uriah put at the frontline and to withdraw so that he
would die. Bathsheba became his wife.
Prophet Nathan visited King David and told him of
God’s disapproval.
Even though David repented of his sin, Nathan told
crazed pursuit.

King David's weaknesses
King David committed adultery with
Bathsheba.
He then tried to cover up her pregnancy, and
of Israel and would grant him peace and rest during his
reign. God further promises him a kingdom over Israel
that would last forever. 1 chronicles 22:9-10
Lesson learnt from king David
David was quick to repent-Paul says that David
was a man whose heart was inclined towards God
(Acts 15:22) and a man after God’s own heart.
We learn that honest self-examination is
necessary to recognize our own sin, and then we
must repent of it.
God greatly desire our complete trust and worship
David demonstrated great patience towards King
Saul. King Saul could not bear to see David praised
for his achievements (He was jealous)
David did not hold grudges- When King Saul
and son are killed in a battle, David tore his
clothes wept, mourned and fasted until
evening. David respected Saul as an anointed
King.
