Advantages of robots over humans
• Higher productivity

• More accurate or consistent result

• They work non-stop without breaks

• They don’t get bored by repetitive tasks

• They don’t go on strike

• They can do dangerous job such as in the jungle


Disadvantages of robots

• They are expensive to purchase

• They are expensive to set up

• They are costly to maintain or repair when broken

• They often need reprogramming for every additional

tasks

• If it breaks, production will be affected


Positive impacts of ICT

• It has created job opportunities in many areas such as:

• Network manager and computer technician

• Website designer

• System analyst

• Programmers

• Computer engineers

• Delivery drivers
The effects of ICT on working patterns
Full Time
• employees will normally work over 5 full days

• typically 9am till 4 or 5pm

• will complete between 35 – 40 hours a week.


Part-time

• working fewer hours per week than full

time, or working fewer hours per day


Compressed Hours

• employee are still working full time hours.

• however the same amount of hours are

completed over less days.

• employees will work more hours in one day.


Job Sharing

• full time job is divided between two part time

employees

• both employees do the same job – same

responsibilities.

• one employee could work in the morning and the

other in the afternoon or the first or second part
