ABOUT UNA DISTRICT
Una is a district in the Indian state of Himachal
Pradesh. Una shares its border with
the Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar districts
of Punjab and Kangra, Hamirpur and Bilaspur distri
ct of Himachal Pradesh. The terrain is generally
semi-hilly with low hills.
Una has five tehsils,
namely Ghanari, Haroli, Amb, Bangana and Una
itself. It was a tehsil of Hoshiarpur district until
the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966 and Kangra
district until 1972, after which it became a district
of Himachal Pradesh.

GEOGRAPHY
Una lies in the south-western part of Himachal Pradesh, with
the Shivalik Hills of the Himalayas rolling on one side.
The Satluj river passes alongside Shahtalai Hills, known for the
shrine of Baba Balak Nath.
The altitudes vary from more than 408 meters in city Una to over
1000 meters in Chintpurni. Una district is bounded by the
river Beas on the north and the river Satluj in the east, the Swan
River which is basically seasonal river flows 65 km right across the
Jaswan Valley towards south until it submerges in the Sutlej river
near Anandpur.
HISTORY OF UNA
The present Una district until 1st November, 1966 was one of the tehsil of the
Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. Consequent upon reorganization of Punjab, all the
hill areas including Una tehsil was transferred to Himachal Pradesh. Ever since,
until September, 1972 it continued to remain as tehsil of the then Kangra district.
On the 1st September,1972 the Himachal Pradesh Govt. reorganised the then
Kangra district into three districts namely Una, Hamirpur and Kangra.
Una district consists of five Sub-Divisions(Una, Amb, Haroli, Bangana &
Gagret), five Tehsils(Una, Amb, Bangana, Haroli and Ghanari) and seven Sub-
Tehsils(Bharwain, Ispur, Jol, Bihru Kalan, Dulehar, Gagret at Kaloh, Mehatpur
Basdehra) and is having five Development Blocks(Una, Bangana, Gagret, Amb
and Haroli).
DEMOGRAPHICS
According to the 2011 census Una district has a population of 521,173,[4] giving it a ranking
of 543rd in India (out of a total of 640).[4] The district has a population density of 338
inhabitants per square kilometre (880/sq mi). Its population growth rate over the decade
2001-2011 was 16.24%. Una has a sex ratio of 977 females for every 1000 males, and a
literacy rate of 87.23%.
Local languages are Himachali, Hindi and Punjabi. Punjabi with mixture of Himachali
language is mostly used in plain areas of Una City, tehsil Ghanari and Haroli Tehsil. But in
other areas like Bangana, Amb and Chintpurni Himachali language is widely spoken.

UNA ISBT BUS STAND
ISBT Una:
This is the Himachal Pradesh’s first Ultra
Modern Bus Stand. CM Jairam Thakur was
inaugurated the bus stand. Facilities like Airport
have been given in this bus stand built in Triple P
mode where shopping malls have been built in this
bus stand, four cinema facilities have also been
included. Parking space for 200 vehicles has also
been kept in the bus stand.

Indira Gandhi Stadium:
This is a cricket ground in Una,
Himachal Pradesh, India. The ground first held a first-class
match in November 1986 when Himachal Pradesh played
the Delhi in the 1986/87 Ranji Trophy. The ground has
held 21 further first-class matches, the last of which came
in the 2001/02 Ranji Trophy when Himachal Pradesh and
the Services. The first List A match held on the ground
came in the 1989/90 Deodhar Trophy when the Central
Zone played the West Zone. Himachal Pradesh first played
a List A match there in 1993/94 Ranji Trophy one-day
competition when the Services were the visiting team.
Between the 1993/94 season and the 2010/11 season,
Himachal Pradesh have played nineteen List A fixtures
there.
