• You are a wheat farmer. You earn all your
income by selling wheat. The more wheat you
grow, the higher will be your income.
• Researchers have developed a new variety of
wheat which increases the production of wheat
from each acre by 20%
• Does this discovery make you better off or
worse off from better. Draw imaginary supply
and demand curve to explain your reasoning.
 Case study 2
• Use of illegal drugs is a problem faced by our society.
Drug use ruins the life of the users. Drug users turn
to violence to obtain money to buy drugs.
• To discourage the use of drugs, Government spends
billions of rupees to do the following:-
– reduce the flow of drugs into the country.
– Provide Education and rehabilitation
• Use the tools of supply and demand and examine
which government policy is more effective.
