Learning Objectives:
1. Explaining Arithmetic Sequences.
2. Determine the formula for the th term of an Arithmetic Sequence.
3. Determine the th term of an Arithmetic Sequence.
4. Solve contextual problems related to Arithmetic Sequences.
What is the pattern of the number sequence?

The pattern of a number sequence is a sequence of numbers

that contains a pattern, so that the next number or number
can be determined from a sequence.
Arithmetic Sequence
An arithmetic sequence is an ordered set of numbers that have a common
difference between each consecutive term.
An arithmetic sequence can be known as an arithmetic progression. The
difference between consecutive terms is an arithmetic sequence is always the same.
If we add or subtract by the same number each time to make the sequence, it is an
arithmetic sequence.
In general we could write an arithmetic sequence like this:

where:
is the first term
is the difference between the terms (called the "common difference")
Example:
1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, ...
6, 9, 12, 15, …
What is the 20th term of the Arithmetic Sequence?
Arithmetic Sequence Formula

If are terms of an Arithmetic Sequence. The th term of the sequence is

expressed as .

where:
is the th term
is a natural number
is the first term, and
is the difference between the terms (called the "common difference")
