Goodness of measurement

 Validity: Validity is a test of how well an instrument that is


developed measures the particular concept that it is intended to
measure.
• Content Validity and Face Validity
• Criterion Validity : measure differentiates individuals on a criterion it
is expected to predict.
Concurrent and predictive validity
• Construct Validity: testifies to how well the results obtained from the
use of the measures fit the theories around which the test is
designed.
Convergent and Discriminant Validity
 Reliability: Reliability is the extent to which an instrument would
give the same results if the measurement were to be taken again
under the same conditions: its consistency.
