SUBCULTURE

REMEMBERING HISTORY
The origin of subcultures began in the 50s
of the XX century in Britain and the USA.

They quickly spread in Western Europe and

gradually began to penetrate into Russia.

During the first years of the XXI century

elements of the subculture have taken on a
wide scope.
WHAT IS "CULTURE" AND "SUBCULTURE"?

Culture - beliefs, values that are common to

a certain group of people.

Subculture is a culture formed under the

influence of various factors (age, ethnic origin,
religion, social group, place of residence),
which has a common style of life, behavior,
group norms, values and stereotypes.
The common elements of a subculture include:
1) relatively unique values and norms,
2) separate channels of communication,
3) a special slang not shared with society,
4) a sense of primary group belonging seen in the use of
'us' and 'them',
5) unique styles and fads,
6) a hierarchy of social patterns that clarify the criteria for
prestige and leadership,
7) receptivity to the charisma of leaders and
gratification of special unmet needs.
A subculture is a group of people
with the same interests, the same
style and they like the same
music.
