EDUCATION IN CALAMBA
DoŇa Theodora, being the first teacher of Jose, was a highly
educated woman.
- had the capacity to teach Spanish, reading, poetry, values.
- taught Pepe the alphabets and Catholic prayers at the age of three amd
learned to read and write at the age of five.

OTHER MENTORS
- Saturnina – the elder sister
- Jose Alberto – his uncle taught him painting, sketching and sculpture
- Gregorio – his uncle further influenced him to love reading.
- Manuel – his uncle who helped him develop his physical skills in
martial arts.
- Maestro Celestino, Maestro Lucas Padua - they became
Jose’s tutor
- Leon Monroy – tutored him Spanish and Latin.

EDUCATION IN BIŇAN

- Jose studied in a private in that town.


- he experienced bullying from his classmate Pedro.
- being smart, he finished earlier his curricular works.
- Don Francisco then decided to send him to Manila to enhance
his capability.
