INTRODUCTION:

• Virtual reality (VR) is a technology which

allows a user to interact with a computer-
simulated environment, whether that
environment is a simulation of the real world
or an imaginary world. It is the key to
experiencing, feeling and touching the past,
present and the future.
HISTORY OF VR:

• In 1968 Ivan Sutherland and his student Bob Sproull

created the first VR / AR head mounted display
(Sword of Damocles) that was connected to a
computer and not a camera.
• The use of the term “virtual reality,” however, was
first used in the mid-1980s when Jaron Lanier,
founder of VPL Research, began to develop the
gear, including goggles and gloves, needed to
experience what he called “virtual reality.”
FIRST INTRODUCED:
• Consumer virtual reality headsets were first released
by video game companies in the early-mid 1990s.
Beginning in the 2010s, next-generation commercial
tethered headsets were released by Oculus (Rift),
HTC (Vive) and Sony (PlayStation VR), setting off a
new wave of application development.
TYPES OF VR:

• There are 3 primary categories of virtual reality

simulations used today:
- Non-immersive
- Semi-immersive
- Fully-immersive simulations
• Non immersive:
Non-immersive virtual
reality is a type of virtual
reality in which you interact
with a virtual environment
usually through a computer
where you can control some
characters or activities
within the experience, but
the virtual environment is
not directly interacting with
you
SEMI IMMERSIVE:
Semi-immersive virtual experiences provide users
with a partially virtual environment. It will still give
users the perception of being in a different reality
when they focus on the digital image, but also
allows users to remain connected to their physical
surroundings.
• Fully immersive:
-Fully-immersive virtual reality is a
digital technology that allows
users to experience artificial
environments as the real world.
-In other words, users perceive virtual
computer-generated surrounding using
visuals, auditory, and haptics.
ARTIFICIAL WORLD(FULLY IMMERSIVE VR)
PURPOSE:

• The goal of VR is to
provide human beings with
a virtual environment
where we can interact with
a computer just as we do in
the real world, that is, by
talking with a virtual
human in a spoken
language, by writing a
letter, or by drawing a
picture.
FEATURES OF VR:
• Virtual world. An imaginary space that
independently exist from the real world. ...
• Immersion. The users are placed in a virtual space,
cut from the real world on a sensory level. ...
• Sensory feedback. ...
• Interactivity. ...
• Comfort. ...
• Interaction. ...
• Video games. ...
• Education
ADVANTAGES:

• Advantages of VR:
• 1) Virtual reality creates a realistic world
• 2) It enables user to explore places.
• 3) Through Virtual Reality user can experiment with
an artificial environment.
• 4) Virtual Reality make the education more easily
and comfort.
DISADVANTAGES:

• Disadvantages of VR:
• 1) The equipments used in virtual reality are very
expensive.
• 2) It consists of complex technology.
• 3) In virtual reality environment we cant move by
our own like in the real world.
CONCLUSION:

• VR is a conceptual idea, not some products

with the specified definition. There are many
people who have no idea about what is VR;
however, they will understand it very
quickly when seeing a famous product. This
is so this is VR technology. The concept of
VR appeared a long time ago; however, it is
until now when it comes into people’s sight.
