Example
Molly puts £1500 into an account that pays 2.5% per
annum. How much interest does she make after 6 years?

100% + 2.5% = 102.5%

102.5 ÷ 100 = 1.025
1500 × = £1739.5401… = £1739.54

Interest earned = £1739.54 - £1500 = £239.54

Example
Ben buys a new car for £15000. If the car depreciates at a
rate of 22% per year,
a) how much will it be worth after 5 years?
b) How much will it have devalued by in those 5 years?

b) £15000 - £4330.76
a) 100% - 22% = 78%
= £10669.24
15,000 × (£4330.7615….
= £4330.76
