Conditional sentences

To express the events that actually happen, we use ‘Zero conditional’.

The structure is as it follows:

IF/WHEN + Present Simple + Present Simple

Example: If I am late for school, my teacher gets angry.

IF - CLAUSE MAIN- CLAUSE
We use the “First conditional” to imagine what is likely to happen.
The structure is as it follows:
IF CLAUSE MAIN CLAUSE

IF + PRESENT SIMPLE WILL/WON’T + VERB

Example: If I go to Paris, I will see the Eiffel Tower.

We use the “Second conditional” to describe something in the presente
or future which is unlikely to happen.
The structure is as it follows:

IF CLAUSE MAIN CLAUSE

IF + PAST SIMPLE WOULD/COULD + VERB

Example: If we cared about the rainforests, we’d (would) do more to protect

them.
We can use “Unless” instead of “if...not” in conditional sentences.

Example: Unless we do something to protect the rainforests soon, they will

all disappear.
