•John Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778)-born in Geneva (Switzerland) as a son of


watchmaker.
•His mother died after his birth,this made his childhood lonely and relation bit
estranged with his father.
•He was an writer,an philosopher and political theorist.
•In 1742 he moved to Paris as widely travelled And read but formally educated
men,there he become the part of ‘ enlightenment’.
•Rousseau wrote several essays ,A Discourse on Science and Arts in 1750.
A Discourse on the Origin of Inequality in 1755.
•In 1762,he published “Social contract”,same year Emile ,or On Education.
•His autobiography “The Confessions” was published after his death in 1782.
