WHAT IS FRIENDSHIP

DAY?
 Friendship day is a day to
celebrate friendship. To mark
the importance of one of the
most beautiful relationship in
the world. Friendship is the
most carefree and chaotic
relations one can ever find in
his life. We meet a lot of
people in our lives but only a
few are there to company us
till our old-age homes. In
phoebe’s words friends are
each other’s lobsters.
IMPORTANCE

 Friendship day is important

because celebration of friends
is important. These are the
people who make us happy
when the days are dark and
make us comfortable enough
to talk about things. These
are the people who put a
smile on our faces and make
this life worth living. So there
should be a day when we
thank these idiots and
maybe, just for once, love
them more than joey loves
food.
HISTORY

 It was proposed in 1958 in

Paraguay as the
“International Friendship
Day”. It is however, known
to have originated from
hallmark cards, by Joyce
Hall in 1930. Different
countries celebrate
friendship day on different
days. In India this is
celebrated on the first
Sunday of August. Its been
90 years of celebrating it
and guess we all want to
cry like Rachel.
HOW IS IT CELEBRATED?

 Friendship day is celebrated

by exchanging colorful
friendship bands
symbolizing their bond.
People give greeting cards,
flowers and gifts to their
friends. They can also go
out of the way and call
their friends over for a
feast if they are inspired by
Monica Geller.
SINGNIFICANCE

 Friends are those with

whom we share our joys
and sorrows and live our
lives to the fullest.
Friendship day signifies the
importance of harmonious
friendships, which
ultimately helps in
promoting love and peace
amongst human beings.
After all, we all are a bit
hopeless, and awkward,
and desperate for love just
like Chandler.
ROLE OF FRIENDS

 Friends are the most

wonderful and exasperating
people one could ever ask for.
How much anyone can deny,
but everyone needs friends.
They are our partners in
crime, our secret keepers and
our personal ball of sunshine.
They give us hope even we
turn into a Ross Geller and
wonder, why do bad things
happen to good people. They
are the only ones who always
turn up to our side even
when we are wrong.
