first, What is Art for you? The

now, we’re going to share to you
the Aspiring Illonggo Visual Artist
named Kristoffer George
Braseliño
With the art liberation that Iloilo
is experiencing right now, artists
are braver in expressing their
uniqueness. Most are showcasing
THE ART OF their works more in public
REGION SIX through exhibits in art galleries,
malls, museums, cafes, or even in
the streets. Yes! In the streets of
Iloilo city.
He is a painter, teacher and he also work in a
community where they do a work shop,
seminars , ceremonies and art exhibition. One
of the most promising Ilonggo artists is
WHO IS Kristoffer George Brasileño, who has been
KRISTOFFER active in the local arts community ever since he
GEORGE was still a student. He was a graduate of
BRASILEÑO? University of San Agustine with a Degree in
Fine Arts. His distinct personal style and skills
lead his way to various events that showcased
his artworks
He was the former president of Iloilo Visual
Artists Collective and is now teaching a four-
year-degree course, Digital Media and
Interactive Arts, at Central Philippine
THE ART OF University. It was also in this year 2018 when
REGION SIX he collaborated with the school together with
its student organizations in executing the
“Pinta Pader”, a mural painting on a concrete
wall near CPU gate 7.
Aside from being a traditional artist, he also
THE ART OF teaches Visual Animation at CPU, which
REGION SIX opened him another path in 3D Animation.
Most of his paintings and drawings
Who inspired are inspired by the Filipinos and
him? their culture.
But this time, he chose the one which favored
THE ART OF both his heart and mind. He studied Fine Arts,

REGION SIX graduated, and years later, became one of the


most sought artists in Iloilo City.
During the interview he said that , “My
advocacy as an artist…is to make more
artist out of ordinary people.”
THE ART OF  His love for his artistry made him one
REGION SIX of the respectable instructors in the
Arts Industry. He is indeed an
inspiration to every Ilonggo artists
In an archipelagic country, a peoples identity
is always regional as geographical boundaries
define varied traditions and languages. But
artist Kristoffer Brasileño is attempting to
deconstruct the identity of the people of the
city and province of Iloilo.
THE ART OF
REGION SIX
Kristoffer’s “Ilonggo Republic” integrates
religious, indigenous or contemporary
iconographies that blend the old and new
Ilonggo way of life.
But more than the identity of a people,
Kristoffer’s second solo exhibition is an
attempt to unmask Ilonggo art—whether it
truly exists or art is just created by an Ilonggo
