The Vertical shore is used to
stabilise damaged floors ,
ceilings or roofs. it can also
used to replace missing or
unstable load-bearing walls or
columns.

undamaged wall in hallways ,
corridors or between
buildings.

A flying shore is used to brace a
damaged wall when a sound
adjacent wall can be used as a
means of support. These are the
horizontal beam, wall-plate and
struts. Other items necessary for
the erection of the flying shore are
cleats, wedges and straining pieces.

A triangular system of shoring

quick extrication of a Victim.

MEMBERS AND FUNCTIONS OF A SHORING TEAM

If sufficient manpower were available a shoring team could be organised


using two separate 6-persons squads.

Assembly Group
Shoring Officer- a Shoring officer is in charge of the
operation and is also called Rescue squad officer .
Measurer-Measures all shoring components and relays the
information to the layout person of the cutting team.
Two Shorers- These work together assembling and
erecting shores in place.
Safety officer- Responsible for overall safety of the
assembly team.
Runner- Ensures tools equipments and shoring materials
are moved from shoring operation primary access point to
