The Aborigines

They are believed to have migrated from Asia to


Australia between 50,000 and 60,000 years ago.
There were up to one million Aboriginal people living
across Australia as hunters and gatherers
The didgeridoo
It is a wind instrument in the form of a long wooden tube
made from a hollow branch, which is blown to produce a
deep, resonant sound. The Aborigines use it as a religious
instrument in their rites.
The boomerang

It is a curved flat piece of wood used as a


hunting weapon. It is thrown against the
animal that the Aborigines want to hunt.
The British Captain James Cook

He is credited with Australia's European


discovery in 1770.
