Why Use Dialect?

give their writing the

place.
- Used to show

character(s), such as

class.

vocabulary, grammar, and system
of pronunciation.
How to Identify - Most cultures have dialects they
use.
Dialect - When an author uses dialect, it is
spelled exactly as it is said or
pronounced.
- “Papadioh” which means “Papa
Dios” or “God”

Do a quick write of a family tradition you are a part

of. In this writing, include dialogue using dialect that
is used most frequently in your life. Standard
English is okay, but don’t be afraid to go outside this
language use!
