Small Business means any person or persons,
including a body corporate or unincorporated, carrying on a business in Guyana for gain or profit and satisfying the criteria listed (sic: hereunder), but does not include any business having as its principal object the furtherance of a charitable or political purpose The Small Business Act (cont’d)
The Act provides further criteria for a small
business, wherein summarily the business can be in the form of a registered company, partnership, cooperative or sole trader under the relevant Acts, is owned and controlled by those persons holding majority shareholding; is not a subsidiary, and satisfies at least two of the three conditions: The Small Business Act (cont’d)
1) Employs not more that twenty-five
persons; 2) Gas gross annual revenues of not more than sixty million dollars; 3) Has total business assets of not more than twenty million dollars. Group Task At this juncture of our training, using our own experiences we will examine, from our practical perspectives, the situation of small contractors in the Guyana Environment, from the Business, Economic, Socio-political and Technical, from individual and group perspectives.
