• Campo da Ataca is located near the center of the village

of S. Torcato (Guimarães). You can visit this place when
you go from Guimarães to S. Torcato, or if you go on
foot, this is one of the crossroads.
 The legend that surrounds the 
historic place
• According to legend, on the 24th of June 1128, the Battle
of S. Mamede, D. Afonso Henriques, began in
S. Torcato, where he had the leadership of the 
County at the beginning of Portucalense and gave 
rise to the political process of the beginning of 
Portugal. It is important to note that the name of   the pla
ce is"Campo da Ataca".
