Yesterday I played the guitar.  Yesterday I didn’t play the
guitar.

Last month she bought a car.  Last month she didn’t buy a car.
Negative sentences in simple past

To make a negative sentence in simple past you need:

 Didn’t (did not)

 A verb in infinitive form: listen, go, eat, watch, etc.


X listened, went, ate, watched, etc.
Common mistakes

X I not wash my clothes. (You need DID, I didn’t wash my


clothes)
X I didn’t cooked the dinner (with didn’t the verbs aren’t in
past, I didn’t cook the dinner)
