Progressive-Overload
Principle
 This principle suggests that the continual increase in the
total workload during training sessions will stimulate
muscle growth and strength gain.
 This improvement in overall performance will, in turn,
allow you to keep increasing the intensity of your training
sessions.
Specificity Principle

 This principle states that if you want to develop or improve


a certain body part or area of fitness, you should select an
appropriate exercise.
Individuality Principle
 Thisprinciple states that no two individuals will benefit
physically or psychologically from same exercise.
 Differences from the body type, age, experience and health
status can all affect the outcomes of a workout
Variation Principle
 This principle maintains that a constant adaption and
changes in intensity, volume and time of the workout will
prevent the stagnation of performance gains or increase
performance gains faster than a repetition of the same
workout.
Adaptation Principle
 This principle refers to the process of the body getting
accustomed to a particular exercise or training program
through repeated exposure.
Reversibility Principle
 The Reversibility principle is a concept that states when
you stop working out, you lose the effects of training.
 It is sometimes referred to as the “use it or lose it” principle
Periodization Principle
 This principles refers to the division of a training plan into
a specific time blocks, where each block has a particular
goal and provides your body with different types of stress
to adapt.
Rest and Recovery
Principle
 This principles suggest that rest and recovery from the
stress of exercise must take place in proportionate amounts
to avoid too much stress.
