Components of CSF

VOLUME :150ml

RATE OF FORMATION :0.3 ml / MIN

specific gravity :1.005

REACTION :alkaline

DAILY SECREATION :500-550 ml

FORMATION OF CSF 04

. CSF is formed by choroid plexuses , situated within the ventricles .

. choroid plexuses are tuft of capillary projection present Inside the

ventricles and are covered by the pia mater and ependymal
covering

. A large amount of CSF is produced by the lateral ventricles

Circulation of CSF 05
FUNCTIONS OF CSF
PROTECTIVE FUNCTION 06
Act as a buffer and protects from the shock
And it helps to float CSF.

REGULATION OF CRANIAL CONTENT VOLUME

Increase in the cranial content leads to cerebral hemorrhage and
Brain tumors.
So CSF absorb the increased content of cranial content and
Give space to the cranial content.

MEDIUM OF EXCHANGE
CSF act as a medium and transport nutritive substance to the brain
And collect waste from the brain and get back to the blood
