WHAT IS A SENTENCE?
 A group of Words which makes complete sense
and expresses a complete idea.

 For example: She is sad. (complete idea)


A sentence can express:

 A Statement. Eg: You are tall.

 A Question. Eg: Are you tall?

 An Order. Eg: Be tall

 A Wish. Eg: I wish I was taller.


ELEMENTS OF A SENTENCE:

A sentence comprises of five different elements-


 Subject
 Predicate
 Objects
 Complements
 Modifiers
SUBJECT:
 Subject is a word or group of words which tells
who/what the sentence is about or who/what does
the action.
 A shortest sentence consists of a subject and a
verb. Eg: He (s) smiles (v).
 Subject is of 3 types:
1.Simple subject
2. Compound subject
3. Complete subject
SIMPLE SUBJECTS:
A simple subject is the main word Or words In the
complete sentence.

 For examples:
1. A lovely boy is playing with his mother.

2. A new generation tablet was launched yesterday.


COMPOUND SUBJECTS:
 A compound subject contains two or more
subjects that has the same verb.

For examples:
1. A lovely boy and his mother are in the
house.
2. A New generation tablet or computer was
launched.
COMPLETE SUBJECTS:
 The complete subject Includes all the words that
tell who or what the sentence is about.

 For examples:

1. A lovely boy Is playing with his mother.


2. A new generation tablet was launched yesterday.
