PM Modi, President Biden launch technology, development


finance initiatives at bilateral in Tokyo

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Joe Biden met along
the side-lines of the Tokyo Quad leaders’ meeting for a bilateral
meeting, their second bilateral meeting in a little over a month, with the
two leaders having met virtually on April 11 before the India-U.S. 2+2
Defence and Foreign Ministries dialogue. The two countries announced
a technology cooperation initiative and investment initiative with the
U.S. development agency. Mr. Biden, expressing an idea he has
articulated for years, said he would work for the U.S.-India relationship
to be “among the closest” in the world.

President Ram Nath Kovind to open women legislators’


meet on Thursday

The President, who arrived on a special Indian Air Force (IAF) flight
by 8.40 p.m., was received at the IAF technical area by Governor Arif
Mohammed Khan, Minister for Transport Antony Raju, Mayor Arya
Rajendran, Chief Secretary V.P. Joy, Air Marshal J. Chalapathi, Air
Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Air Command, State Police
Chief Anil Kant and other senior officials.

Mr. Kovind is accompanied by his wife Savitha Kovind and
their daughter Swati. On his arrival, he left for Raj Bhavan
where he will stay the night.

Mr. Kovind will inaugurate the National Women Legislators’


Conference, Kerala – 2022 at the Kerala Legislative Assembly
at 11.30 a.m. on Thursday. He will then return to Raj Bhavan.
He will leave the city for Pune at 5.20 p.m. on Thursday.

SpiceJet and Credit Suisse conclude settlement of dispute;


airline shares close 0.7% lower

SpiceJet has signed and concluded a $24 million settlement with


Swiss investment bank Credit Suisse regarding a commercial
dispute. The two parties concluded the settlement and consent
terms with regard to the pending dispute on May 23, 2022, the
company said. The final settlement has been filed before the
Supreme Court of India for final orders, it added. Shares of
SpiceJet closed 0.7 per cent lower on Wednesday

Narinder Batra Removed As IOA Chief After Delhi High


Court Strikes Down Life Member Post In Hockey India

Veteran sports administrator Narinder Batra was on Wednesday


removed as IOA President after the Delhi High Court struck down
the position of 'Life Member' in Hockey India, courtesy which he
had contested and won the apex body elections back in 2017. Indian
Olympic Association (IOA) senior vice president Anil Khanna took
over as acting chief. Batra had filed his nomination for the IOA
president's post as a representative (Life Member) of Hockey India.
