WHAT IS CURRICULUM

• Curriculum is by no means clear, as a descipline of study and as


a field of practice curriculum lacks clear boundary.
• Curriculum means all those activities and experiences that a
learner face during the educational process.
• It is broadest term amongst these three.
WHAT IS SYLLABUS

• A syllabus is basically a typical list of content area which are to


be assessed during an educational process.
• A syllabus usually includes list of topics, list of sub-topics, etc
with no detailed description.
WHAT IS COURSE

• It is a set of subjects with detailed description of subjects.


• For example, a course of class 8th will include different
textbooks of subjects like maths, english, urdu, etc. with a
detailed description of content.
• It lies between curriculum and syllabus.
OLD CONCEPT OF CURRICULUM

• Curriculum has two concepts, one is old and the other is new or
modern concept.
• Old concept: The old concept of curriculum was that there will
be an educational system where teachers will impart knowledge
into their students by using different teaching methods and
that’s it.
THE NEW OR MODERN CONCEPT

• The new concept of curriculum is that there will be an educational system


where teachers will impart knowledge into their students by using different
teaching methods and
• learners not only seeks knowledge but also psycological, philosophical,
socialogical and behavioral needs of students are taken into account.

Curriculum:

Syllabus:
Greek term

It is the broadest term amongst these three.
Course:
It is less broader.
Syllabus:
It is least broader.
SOME DIFFERENCES
Curriculum:
It covers all the activities in an educational process. Like subjects, courses,
assignments, quizzes, presentations, textbooks, etc.
Course:
It is a set of subjects with detail description of content and exampled is already
discussed in previous slides.
Syllabus: list of topics, teaching methods, recommended books, etc.
