Definition:
o Manual muscle testing is used to determine the degree and extent of muscular
weakness due to injury, disease or disuse.
o It is a very common practice of orthopedic examination specifically designed to
assess function and strength of various muscles.
ELBOW

Movements at Elbow
• Flexion
• Extension
Muscles Involvement

Flexion
Biceps, Brachialis, Brachioradialis.

Extension
Triceps, Anconeus.
Techniques OF Flexion
• Therapist Position
Should be in Standing on testing side
Stabilize the patient with one hand above elbow
Instruct the patient to bend elbow

• Patient Position
Patient should be in sitting position
Elbow should be extended
