News Report 1
And in today’s news … Over ten thousand dollars in cash was
stolen this morning from a jewelry store on Fifth Avenue. It’s
thought that the thieves broke in to the store through a back
window, sometime between 8 and 9 o’clock. As well as the
money, many pieces of jewelry were taken, meaning the total
value of goods is estimated at nearly fifty thousand dollars. The
police were called by a member of the public and when they
arrived store manager Miguel Haspero was found unconscious
in his office. He was taken to the hospital, but was later
questioned by police. It is now thought he is connected to the
robbery. A car that was used to escape from the scene was later
recovered by police and a bag was found inside containing one
thousand dollars in cash. However, the rest of the money and
the jewelry was not found and police are still searching the area.

News Report 2
1 Today Teachers at City College have walked out of their
classrooms and demanded more money from the college
authorities. Many teachers had complained previously, but because
nothing was done, they decided to take this action. Hopefully the
dispute will only be for today, as spring break starts tomorrow.
2 Over twenty passengers on a cruise liner in Barbados are in
hospital tonight with food poisoning. The Star of the Sea may be
the largest cruise liner in the world, but the food unfortunately isn’t
up to standard, according to many passengers. The restaurant
manager said that all the passengers had eaten the same dish,
seafood salad, for lunch.
3 And finally, a young man had a very lucky escape this afternoon
when a shark attacked him while he was surfing at a popular beach
south of Perth, Australia. Paul Simmons said later that the
fivemeter great white shark suddenly ‘came out of nowhere’.
Unbelievably, he wasn’t hurt, but the shark destroyed his surfboard.
