METHODS OF DELIVERY OF

PRESENTATION
For a successful presentation it is important
to decide the correct method of speech
delivery.

The methods of speech delivery are


 Extemporaneous
 Memorization
 Manuscript
 Impromptu
EXTEMPORANEOUS METHOD
Extemporaneous speaking is the presentation of a
carefully planned and rehearsed speech, spoken
in a conversational manner using brief notes
 ADVANTAGES
 Eye contact is maintained with the audience.
 Audience is likely to pay better attention to the

message because it is engaging both verbally


and nonverbally
 DISADVANTAGE
 Requires a great deal of preparation.
MEMORIZATION
 Memorized speaking is the rote recitation of a
written message that the speaker has committed to
memory.
ADVANTAGES
 Eye contact is maintained with the audience.

 Language is polished

 Complete information is delivered

DISADVANTAGES
 Needs lot of time to memorize.

 If you forget anything, it becomes difficult to find

your place.
MANUSCRIPT
 Manuscript speaking is the word-for-word
iteration of a written message.
ADVANTAGES
 Speaker feels confident
 Language used is polished
 No information is missed out

DISADVANTAGES
 Eye contact with the audience is not possible
 In absence of effective reading skills, presentation

may become dull and boring.


 No change is possible during the presentation.
IMPROMPTU
 Impromptu speaking is the presentation of a
short message without advance preparation.
ADVANTAGES
 It is spontaneous and responsive
 Eye contact is maintained

DISADVANTAGES
 Message may be disorganized and difficult

for listeners to follow.


 Speaker may become nervous.
