cultural influences to development Alfred Adler (1870-1937) - Felt that Freud’s underemphasis of the ego was a critical flaw in his base theory
- Adler felt that compensation for feelings of
inferiority is very important in the formation of personality and psychological functioning Karen Horney (1885-1952) - Took Freud’s approach of the penis envy and put it into the women’s context and circumstance - The common trait between these revisionist was that they diverged from Freud’s focus on the id and instead gave attention to the ego
