If I get the chance and nothing unusual happens, I would like to start playing basketball soon. This is a sport that
fascinates me a lot and after 4-5 months when I will finish my graduation, I will start playing this game on a regular
basis. In fact, some of my neighbours already play this game every evening in a nearby basketball playground and all I
have to do is start playing with them. They are very close to me and they’ll definitely welcome me to join their team. I
will need to buy a pair of sports trousers and shoes and spend some money to start playing it. Actually, the expense is
very low and that wouldn’t be a problem for me to start the activity.
Though I often watched this game on television or in our local playground, I never played it myself. Maybe I was a bit
anxious about the performance or skill of mine in this game and that’s why I have not started it yet. I planned to start
playing it when I was in grade 9, but because my family had to move to a new city, I could not start it.
This is a game that fascinates me and since I often watch it on television, I have a great passion for it. Two of my
previous attempts to start playing this game were ruined and I feel somehow that has enhanced my interest in this
game even more. I need to shape my body and I found it would be a great game to do so. That’s the most important
reason I want to start as soon as possible.

SON TUNG M-TP
His real name is Nguyễn Thanh Tùng. He is known professionally as ‘Son Tung
MPT’He is a Vietnamese singer, song-writer and producer. It was around 5 years
ago when I was still a lower secondary student. I stumbled upon him in an MV on
Youtube.

He’s a handsome/good-looking/chubby/slender/well-built/medium-built man
with long black hair and a charming smile. He’s a kind-hearted man who’s always
willing to help others. He’s an optimistic man who always look on the bright side.
He’s a diligent man who love work more than anything else. He’s a good role
model for young people to follow.
At first, I thought he was a reserved/shy man. He didn’t talk much to
anyone. However, he turned out to be very talkative and extroverted. There
was a time when I needed a lot of help with my upcoming exams. He spent,
like, 5 hours a week teaching me English! There was a time when I and he
went on a trip together to Da Lat. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed a lot of
delicacies there.

What I like most about him/her is the fact that he’s very smart. He can speak
3-4 languages fluently! What I am most impressed is his confidence – He can
talk in front of 100 people with ease. I’ll try my best to become such a great
person like him.

Questions
1. Do you have any unhealthy habits?
Well, everyone is addicted to some habits which they try to change. And I am the
one among them. My work priorities are such that I reach home around 8 pm. I
feel lazy to cook, so I go to bed with an empty stomach or order a takeaway.
2. In what ways do you try to stay healthy?
I try to stay healthy by eating a well-balanced, low-fat diet with lots of fruits,
vegetables, and whole grains. Thereafter, I workout for a minimum of 40 minutes
and meditate for 20 minutes. It is important for everyone to focus on the fitness
level to stay healthy.
3. Do you think more about your health now than when you were younger?
Of course! I do think about my health now more than when I was younger. During the school
days, My mother was concerned about my health and even now she is. But now as I am working
and staying in a hostel, it has all come up on me. Initially, I was careless and didn’t take care of
myself. But, with time, I’ve realized the importance of health and ensure that I practice eating
healthy foods and workout on a regular basis.

4. What are the health benefits of playing a sport?

I think playing sports benefit (v) us both physically and mentally. When you play sports, you are
giving your body time to build muscles, and burn fat. Therefore, you will be fitter and stronger.
Also, you are giving your body time to relax. That’s why I enjoy working out so much.
Take note:
It’s always been an unpleasant experience when getting sick, at least for me personally. Then it'd be even
more unpleasant if you got sick right before an important exam, and it happened to me once.
It happened last year when I was about to take an IELTS exam that I caught severe flu. It was so serious
that I had to cancel and reschedule the test.
Even though flu is not a really serious disease and can go away on its own, it’s still quite troublesome when
it occurs. I got some symptoms about two days before the exam, but they were so mild and unnoticeable that
I didn't pay much attention and bother to take any medicine.
On the first day, I just felt my throat a bit sore, like something was blocking it. There was nothing more
serious than that for the next day. Then the night before the exam, I felt fatigued, and around midnight,
I got a fever. That was the last thing I expected to happen right before such a big day.
I took an aspirin to reduce the fever and tried to get back to sleep in the hope that everything would be
alright in the morning. But it was not. When I woke up in the morning, my head was pounding. What was
worse was that my throat was so painful that I couldn't say a word. That was when I realised I couldn't make
it to the exam and had no choice but to stay home.
After that incident, I became more attentive to health problems and would take immediate action when I
sense anything wrong happens, minor or not.
1. Do you think people pay
enough attention to their health
today?

No, I don’t think so. Nowadays,

most people are leading a
sedentary lifestyle where they
don’t have enough time to look
after themselves. They don’t pay
attention to their diet and hardly
workout. But there are a few self-
conscious people who are aware of
their health and prefer eating a
healthy diet and doing some
physical activities in their life to
ensure they’re healthy.
2. What costs are involved when you are ill in your country?

In my country, the costs depend upon the kind of hospitals we prefer.

There are government hospitals that are less expensive than private
hospitals. In private hospitals, we have to pay a fortune to get our
treatment done. However, it is up to us to choose the hospitals wisely.

3. Do you think most people worry more about their health as they get
older?

Of course! In my opinion, once a person hits the 40s, they’re more

likely to get signs of diseases and conditions like blood pressure, heart
attack etc. So they become health-conscious and take precautionary
measures.

4. How can people be encouraged to stay healthy?

One of the best ways a person can be encouraged to stay healthy is by

talking to them about the health benefits. They can even promote
health benefits through advertisements. People will get motivated and
adopt a healthy lifestyle.
