Justice is defined as indirect efforts to change social structures as per Living Justice
This justice can be directed to workers rights and environmental responsibility
 Workers rights can be compensation or proper work environment

Some companies look to other countries for cheaper labor.

Social teachings can provide guidance to proper guidance for business operations.
Justice and Workers Rights
The U.S. Trade Act of 1974
 This Act realizes the need for structure for the workers.
 Acceptable conditions
 Respectable wages
 Health and Safety representation

Historically, countries allowed child labor and harsh working conditions.


Social Teachings and Economy
Laudato Si` speaks about spiritual perspective
We need to do to others as we expect to ourselves.
 This can play directly into the treatment of the workers and environment

While we provide opportunity to work to under privileged people, it must be honest work.
 The effects on the people and environment must be considered.
Negative Effects
Coca-Cola depletes water supplies in small towns world wide
As per the NY Times, clean water is hard to come while Coke is readily available.

 There is always times where corporate greed has been the driver for companies.
Poor working conditions, child labor, and pollution has always worked in the background
Positive Effects
Employment opportunity for suppressed areas

3rd world countries receive improvements

The poor is helped through outreach programs


Analysis
•Companies must follow the U.S. Trade act of 1974

•Globalization breeds greed.

•The pope believes we can all do better to save people and the world

oAs the world is changed, we must provide justice

oThis justice should be driven by CST

oThe CST can be used as a baseline to build companies
