HYDROGEN ENERGY

What is the meaning of hydrogen energy?

Hydrogen energy involves the use of hydrogen
and/or hydrogen-containing compounds to
generate energy to be supplied to all practical
uses needed with high energy efficiency,
overwhelming environmental and social
benefits, as well as economic competitiveness.
How is hydrogen used as energy?
Hydrogen fuel cells produce electricity by combining
hydrogen and oxygen atoms. The hydrogen reacts with
oxygen across an electrochemical cell similar to that of
a battery to produce electricity, water, and small
amounts of heat.
Example
Hydrogen can be used in fuel cells to
generate electricity, or power and heat. Today,
hydrogen is most commonly used in petroleum refining
and fertilizer production, while transportation and
utilities are emerging markets
Advantages of Hydrogen Energy
It's a Renewable Energy Source
 Numerous Sources to Produce Hydrogen Locally
 It is Practically a Clean Energy Source
Hydrogen Energy is Non-toxic
The Use of Hydrogen Greatly Reduces Pollution

Disadvantages of Hydrogen Energy

Hydrogen Energy is Expensive
Storage Complications
It’s Not the Safest Source of Energy
Tricky to Move Around
Applications of hydrogen
Rocket fuel.
Reduction of metallic ores.
