Introduction
• There is growing interest in video-based
solutions for people monitoring and
counting in business and security
applications. Compared to classic sensor-
based solutions the video-based ones
allow for more versatile function-alities,
improved performance with lower costs.
• In this paper, we propose a real-time
system for people counting based on
single low-end non-calibrated video
camera.
 The tracking of people that enter or
pass through a determined space is
undoubtedly, an important tool for
statistical and marketing research
purposes, likewise for an increased
security control (eg. emergency
evacuation) and that too manually
Motivation become a big headache which is not
feasible in today’s world.
 So by using this system we can count
and keep a track record of people’s
moment which will be helpful in
analysis and security purposes.
Objectives

The main goal of this thesis is to contribute to the evaluation of

the possibility to develop a technical solution that allows the use
of surveillance cameras for counting people in public buildings.

The goal of people counting is to estimate the number of people

entering and exiting a specific area.

People counting can be used for various practical applications,

such as video surveillance, urban planning, resource
management, and cus- tomer profiling.

Helps in occupancy monitoring of smart building ,shopping

complex,museum etc.
