 This standing male figure representing a
rice deity (bulul) from the Ifugao people
of northern Luzon Island in the
Philippines is an outstanding and highly
important expression of the foremost
tradition of anthropomorphic sculpture in
the northern Philippines.

 The Manunggul Jar shows that our
maritime culture is so paramount to us
that it reflected our ancestor’s religious
beliefs. Many epics around the
Philippines would tell us of how souls go
to the next life aboard boats, passing
through the rivers and seas.

 CONCLUSION:
Art does not exist just to be there and give aesthetics. It is more than that. It
gives you a sense of nostalgia, a medium to protest, to bring your message
across to everyone, to let them feel what you feel, to remember, to
preserve, to let them see the truth and a way to reshape the nation today.
