We need to ask ourselves:


- Why do we serve?
- Who are we as servants?
- How do we serve?

Basic realities
-There are two kingdoms opposed to one
another

-Man is in sin and bondage and needs to


be redeemed.
A. Introduction

Christian service is not simply


what you do, but who or what
you are as you do it.
B. What it means to be a servant.

Lk 17:7‑10
'Which of you, with a servant ploughing or minding sheep,
would say to him when he returned from the fields, "Come and
have your meal at once"?

Would he not be more likely to say, "Get my supper ready;
fasten your belt and wait on me while I eat and drink. You
yourself can eat and drink afterwards"?

Must he be grateful to the servant for doing what he was told?

So with you: when you have done all you have been told to
do, say, "We are useless servants: we have done no more than

E. Growing into maturity as Christian servants

Signs of Maturity
1. Christian wisdom and teachings are being applied to your lives
2. Relationships (both with the Lord and with one another) are strong and
full
3. Faithfulness characterizes your lives.
4. You are men and women of your word.
5. You are working on the various obstacles and shortcom­ings in your
lives as Christians
6. You are servants who can serve without having to be acknowledged,
appreciated or rewarded.
Conclusion

John 10:11
“ I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep
