Curious international holidays
• NATIONAL SLEEPYHEAD DAY: This Finnish holiday is more fun for some than others. As
tradition goes, on July 27, the last person in the house still sleeping gets woken up with a bucket
of water to the face. The city of Naantali goes even further, recruiting a “celebrity Sleepyhead” to
throw into the sea. WHITE DAY
• White Day on March 14: But to fully understand this celebration, we have to go back a month, to
Valentine's Day, once it is classic for the ladies of the East Asian continent to give chocolates to
men. Unfortunately, it was a one-way street: ladies didn't get anything in return, until 1978, once
a Japanese sweet shop rightly thought ladies deserved gifts too.
• October 1st – International Coffee Day: On this day, the world celebrates its most beloved bean.
Design some coffee mugs with clever sayings about coffee or office culture and you’re sure to
land a few big hits.
• August 8th – World Cat Day: As you may be aware, approximately 83% of the internet is cats.
Cat memes, cat videos, cat GIFs. World Cat Day is the direct result of this total feline domination.
Sharpen your claws and create some purr-fect designs honoring the internet’s favorite animal.
Christmas celebrations around the world

• Kentucky Fried Christmas Dinner, Japan

• Lighting of National Hanukkah Menorah, Washington, D.C. – US
• Day of the Little Candles, Colombia
• Cavalcade of Lights, Toronto ( red fire Works)
• Finland On Christmas morning, Finish families traditionally eat a
porridge made of rice and milk topped with cinnamon, milk, or butter.
Whoever finds the almond placed inside one of the puddings "wins"—
but some families cheat and hide a few almonds so the kids don't get
upset. At the end of the day, it is customary to warm up in a sauna
together.
