RESEARCH REPORT

It is an exposition of the question asked, the techniques used to answer it and the answers which were finally developed The legal research report is the statement that contains in brief the procedure adopted and the findings arrived at by the researcher of a legal problem.

According to American Marketing Society, the purpose of a report is, to convey to the interested persons the whole result of the study in sufficient detail and so arrange as to enable each reader to comprehend the data and so determine for himself the validity of conclusions

y Dissemination y Presents the conclusions for the information and

knowledge to others
y To check the validity of generalizations y To encourage others to carry on research on the

same or allied problems

y The Preliminary Matters; y The Main Texts; and, y The End Matters.

y Introduction y Body of the Report y Summary and Conclusions

y It is customary that to conclude the research report

with a very brief summary

y More widely read so it should be clear and concise y It includes a brief restatement of the problem(s), the

main features of the methods, and the most important findings researcher briefly reviews the procedures, findings and entire development of the study

y The

y The conclusions are stated precisely and related

directly to the hypothesis that were tested. The conclusions announce whether the findings of the study confirmed or disconfirmrd the hypotheses
y Result

and Conclusions: Result is direct observation, conclusion is an inferance based on results

y The Researcher may include briefly his ideas on

the implications of his findings and his recomendations for possible application of the findings.
y He may also suggest any new questions for

research that grew out of his study

y The researcher has to give suggestions y Research is undertaken with some objective

which is generally the solution for certain problems So there has to be suggestions

a) to acknowledge the source of a quotation, para-

phrases or idea borrowed by the author; b) to presnt explanatory statements, quotations or supplimentary materials which though important may interfere with the flow of the textual material, if included in the main body
