a conductor.

• Materials that do not conduct heat well are called
insulators.

• Oven mitts and gloves are insulators.

• Gases, such as air, are good insulators of heat.


• Rubber also is a good insulator of heat and
electricity.
• Most wires are covered with rubber to insulate
them and keep people safe.
