METACOGNITION
• From the Greek word ‘meta’ and the
Latin word ‘cognition’.
• Metacognition is the process of thinking
about one’s own thinking and learning.
• it involves self-monitoring and correcting
your own learning processes.
• Metacognition also involves knowing
yourself as a learner; that is, knowing
your strengths and weaknesses as a
learner.
Metacognitive Awareness
• Metacognitive awareness means being aware of
how you think.
• Metacognitive awareness is an important part
of helping learners become more effective and
importantly more autonomous.
• Declarative knowledge
• Procedural Knowledge
• Conditional Knowledge
